If you wish to enter the UK, please be aware that an EU, EEA, or Swiss national ID card alone is no longer sufficient for entry. However, there are specific exceptions to this rule.
You may still use your national ID card if you hold settled or pre-settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, or if you qualify under the settlement schemes of Jersey, Guernsey, or the Isle of Man.
Additionally, if you have an EU Settlement Scheme family permit, or the equivalent from Jersey, Guernsey, or the Isle of Man, you are also eligible to enter using your ID card.

Firstly, the cost will depend heavily on the specific country for which the residence permit is issued. For example, a 3-year Canadian residence permit will naturally have a higher cost than most 3-year EU residence permits.
